What a find, the food was delicious. See my photos. Margaritas were mixed well. We will be back for sure, great customer service.

The order. Mango margarita, steak burrito three tacos and free chips. Chips tasted like bagged chips you buy at jewel. All plates including the burrito were pre made and reheated. Steak was chewy and some pieces were still frozen. You couldn't touch the plates for about 10 minutes since they were so hot. The burrito was wrapped by a 10 year old boy it seemed. Mango margarita didn't taste like mango nor margarita. If you think this place is good you haven't had good Mexican food.

Portions are good size. Food was decent, though a bit heavy on the salt. Salsa a bit runny and corn chips were forgettable. Bathroom was what you would expect to see at a run down gas station, very dirty. Person came out of stall and walked out without washing hands, not sure if they were an employee.

The worst excuse for mexican food I've ever tried. I tried this place twice, second time my girlfriend from Texas and I ordered the food was a disaster neither of us ate but a bite and they still charged us all though not the full price but 8 buck to not eat was outrageous.

I have eaten here probably 10 times. The food is consistently good and the portions are large. However the chips and salsa are okay and the service is usually terrible. I always joke to my husband that the servers also cook the food and wash the dishes because they are always in the back, and if they forget the tortillas for your fajitas...oh well, just eat them without. Or if you need a fork or a napkin, too bad. The last time I was here nobody ever came out of the kitchen to seat us and some other couple who were waiting before us, The busser just walked past ignoring everyone and there was only 1 customer in the dining area.

Tried to get in at 9:40pm on a Friday for a couple of margaritas, some chips and salsa and were turned away at the door because "we close at 10:00" even though their sign clearly said open until 10:30. 'Nuff said.

Visiting from Southern California which is basically a suburb of Mexico so we know Mexican food. First, the staff is really good. Very friendly and attentive. The salsa is good but chips are store-bought. Margaritas are so-so but I would do again. Cheese enchiladas are marginal and chicken quesadilla is good. Taco wasn't bad but shell was store-bought. We didn't set the bar too high walking in but it's not a bad place. We would go back.

After a long travel day our family was looking for a good meal ... and boy did we find it! The chili verde is truly amazing. Very helpful and courteous staff. Couldn't have asked for a better meal. Gracias!!!

Wife insisted we go to El Bracero tonight. I've been there before and it was OK. Tonight they were on point, some the best Mexican food I have ever had. The chilis relliano (sp?) was so good and huge and reasonable, like five bucks and change. Awesome dinner!

If you can get past the appearance of the interior, this place is pretty good. I really like the enchiladas and the durango special. Sooo good. The drinks seem hit or miss; one time I had a margarita that tasted like there was no alcohol in it at all. But then other times, they're good. So, meh. I like this place though, I'll be back.

Staying overnight at the nearby Holiday Inn. This place was recommended. The recommendation turned out to be a good one, I had the taquitos and wife had the tacos con Carne Asada. Chips were real local cooked, salsa fresh but not exciting. Food fresh-cooked and hot. Beer good, margarita tasted of a pre-mix. I enjoyed the break after long day of driving. I would eat here again if back at same hotel.

We have ate here since the day it opened years ago. It's been great but then in early 2012 the service became very bad. Visit after visit we got poor service We stopped going because of it. Then we wanted to try again after so many months. It was back to its old self. We talked to one of the waiters and he told us they had fired some of the staff. The chips and salsa were great as was the food. The service was great and our meal was ready very quickly.

Average Mexican food restaurant. As someone that has lived in California and Texas, I am pretty picky about my Mexican food. The food here is neither great nor horrible. It is a serviceable option, but nothing memorable.

Excellent food and very reasonable prices. The menu is HUGE! Lots to choose from. Authentically prepared Mexican food. I had the chicken tacos and they were muy bueno.

Just like a thousand other Mexican restaurants around the US. The food I got was very good, though. Prices are good, especially with the 10% discount for being booked at the next door hotel.

Mexican Flag dish is the way to go. Their cheese cake desert is out of this world. No bar but good fast service and affordable choices.

I just went there after reading the reviews from this page. I was craving mexican and I was not disappointed. I always think that reviews are overrated but I will give this place a 3.5 stars, 4 to be generous. The food was very fresh tasting and filling. Dinosaur portions for me but ok for my 220 pounds buddy Jack the Ripper. I actually like it more than the one in Michigan City, more pleasant and clean. 4 words for U: GO CHECK IT OUT.

Hot chips and spicy salsa. Extremely good beef chimichangas. Very generous portions for the price. I'd recommend this place to anyone that likes mexican food. The staff are friendly, however their english might be hard for some to understand. I didn't have any issues though.

The food was good and my view of it has nothing to do with the yummy pitcher of Margarita we drank! We had the cheese dip, Taco De Asada with beans and rice and mini chimi's. All was great. Salsa was bland. I liked the rice a lot. The steak taco and cheese dip was better than usual but the rest of it was very typical of an 'Ameri-Mex' joint. I knew there wasn't any female employees working that night cause the bathroom was a gross mess. Our server wasn't as interested in taking care of us as he was hanging out with the other do nothing servers. Between his broken English and my poor Spanish, there was a big communications barrier but it all worked out. They do have a great view of the lake but only if you sit in the front ( non-smoking area). I went back again and got carry out on a late work night. Just got a couple taco salads. Of course they gave us the chips and salsa too. They just wrapped the salads in flimsy foil and they didn't drain the beef and lettuce well so I had a juicy mess in the bottom of the to go bag. Also, I should of asked them for styrofoam plates. Luckily, my hotel had some in their breakfast area as well as salt and pepper cause the taco salads was bland! One day, I'll remember to start bringing my travel bottle size of Sriracha for my pizza's, pasta's, Mexican and Chinese!

This place has a great view of the Pine Lake and together with some sizzling fajitas and couple of Margaritas you'll feel like swimming in the lake, LOL. The food is pretty decent and the melted cheese dip is a must try! they use real cheese not some mix or diluted stuff like in other places. Also they prepare the drink right there not premixed stuff... Owner and staff is quite attentive and friendly, just let them know you need attention and they will be there, if you know what I mean. They can customize your meal the way you want, that's quite a benefit. I have tried four times already on my way to Chicago 'cause driving 10 minutes out of the way is worth. Cheers!

One of my favorite restaurants when I go out to LaPorte. Great, authentic Mexican food at a great price! The staff is friendly, and fast. Highly recommend!

"Meh" is the perfect way to describe this place... run of the mill mexican style food, bland and boring but tolerable...

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
